O’Shea’s, General Merchants was founded in 1934 when Michael O’Shea purchased from the O’Brien family. Much has changed over the past 80 years but O’Shea’s pub has retained much of the character and style of times past. Customers can sit on a bar stool and enjoy a pint and at the same time buy a fishing rod or a box of nails or a light bulb or a bottle of milk or a loaf of bread.
We offer a friendly atmosphere to meet friends for a night out or relax after a walk on the Borris Viaduct, Mount Leinster or down the Barrow line. The ‘Parlour’ offers a relaxing area to enjoy a coffee in the afternoon or to cosy up to the open fire at night.
Our ‘Back Bar’ area is an ideal spot for groups to get
together after a hurling game or a trip canoeing on the Barrow or walking the mountains.
Groups are always welcome. We can offer finger food for groups of all sizes and music can be arranged for your night.
